At the banquet earlier this month, Paul asked the racers to let them know what you would like to see in the way of rules for the next season. You can comment on here or contact him. The VC Fairboard will meet in December and vote on 2013 rules.
They have talked to other tracks in the area and they have all come up with some ideas. The AKRA 2012 rules seems to be the way they are going for most classes but they are looking at sealed engine classes for Youth and Box Stock.
They would like to go with a "membership" to compete in the points system. Fees would need to be paid up-front at the beginning of the season and sometime during the season each class would have a money race for those participating in the points. (The prize money would be paid out to the points member, even if they finished back in the field.) Membership fee money would be used toward the awards banquet.
The schedule would be like it was when the track first started racing. Working with other tracks so they are not competing against each other. Something like 10 races during the season.
Now for my two cents worth:
(1) Decide what the start time is and stick to it.
(2) I'm all for sealed engines; decide what the specs are and give us an opportunity to build the engines we already have. Have them teched by whoever they decide and seal them. This could save many of us from the need to purchase another engine.
(3) Get the people doing the scoring trained on what to look for and how to handle DNF's.
(4) Keep the web page up-to-date and USE IT. Start posting points at the very beginning of season (should be easier to track points for members only).
Here's a start...what's your thoughts?
